The Penganten Ali Embung (artificial lake) construction in Ciracas Urban Village, East Jakarta keeps being accelerated. Its construction has been carried out since early August and is targeted for completion by the end of this year.
Thus far, the work progress is only about five percent.
East Jakarta to Build Embung in Cibubur to Anticipate FloodingMaintenance Division Head Puryanto expressed that the embung, which is built on a 9,300-square-meter land was to cope with the overflow of the Cipinang River which usually inundates RW 06, Ciracas Urban Village.
"Embung is dredged up to four meters deep using three heavy equipment, consisting of two long-arm excavators and one standard excavator," he explained, Monday (9/5).
If it was done, the surrounding area would be used as a vehicle for ecotourism with a 5-meter-wide jogging track facility
"People will feel safe and comfortable when exercising while traveling in these locations," he explained.
East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar hoped that the Penganten Ali Embung could accommodate approximately 75,000 cubic meters of water, which is a flood controller in RW 06 Ciracas area.
"It is also designed as a tourist destination. That's why we prepare a jogging track at the location, including an interactive park and an outdoor theater," he concluded.
